WALK-IN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AVAILABLE DAILY (MONDAY - FRIDAY) DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS FROM 8:30AM TO 4:30PM.

(Closed on all Federal Holidays)

***LICENSE PLATE DROP-OFF is available during business hours. Only VIRGINIA plates can be surrendered. Please come inside and drop them in the BLUE bucket just inside the glass door (facing the parking lot). License plates will be processed the same business day if dropped off by 4:15pm and receipts will be mailed to the customer address on file. License plates dropped off Monday through Friday after 4:15pm will be processed the next business day. If your registration has a full six months or more remaining before it expires then you may qualify for a partial refund which you should receive within 60 days. If the vehicle has been SOLD, please write the sold date on the plates or attach a note so we can apply it to your record.

DMV Selects Do Process:

• Vehicle Titles and Registrations: Original titles (with or without liens), substitute titles, and replacement titles
• Registrations: Original registrations, renewals (including fleets), transfers, re-issues, and plate surrenders
• License Plates: Specialized and personalized plate orders, including the issuance of motorcycle, permanent trailer, truck, taxicab, and local government use plates
• Permits and Placards: Handicapped parking placards, trip permits, and overload permits
• Transcript Requests: Driver and vehicle transcripts
• Voter Registration Applications
• Issue hunting and fishing licenses
• Add SR22 or FR44 to the system
• Address changes (for the DMV system only)
• Compliance Summary Report
• Process abandoned vehicle titles

DMV Selects Do Not Process:

• Issue, renew or replace Driver’s licenses, Learner’s permits, Identification cards, CDL permits, or Veteran’s Identification cards
• Change the name or address on your Driver’s license, Learner’s permit, Identification card, or CDL permit
• Accept payment for license reinstatement fees, fines, or tickets
• Issue Vital Records, such as: birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates
• Process ANY online or franchise dealership work
• Process mechanic or storage lien titles
• Process BOAT titles

  • Address changes can be made in the DMV system only. We DO NOT reissue Driver’s License or ID cards.

  • Virginia Titles with OR without a lien:

    Please fill out the built-in title application of the back of the title as the buyer. Include lien information (if applicable), insurance confirmation (if getting tags), signature of applicant and co-owner (if applicable), date, social security number or driver’s license number, address, and county or town where vehicle will be parked more than half the calendar year.

  • Virginia DMV will not recognize a vehicle as a gift unless it’s given from a parent to child, child to parent or spouse to spouse. If you qualify as stated, then please fill out Form SUT 3 and bring it with you to the DMV when you go to title your vehicle.

    Other forms you may need in regard to transferring a vehicle title on death are below.

    Transfer of Certificate of Title with a Lien:

    Used when the deceased has a lien against a vehicle. Buyer will fill out the top half of the form, lien holder fills out the bottom half of the form and signs (required). Form SUT 4 must be brought into the DMV with a lien free title (in the deceased’s name) from the lien holder and original death certificate of the deceased.

  • For lost, mutilated, illegible, or substitute (any type of change - for example lien release, name change, etc.) titles.

    Please fill out Form VSA 67 to bring with you to the DMV. For lien releases, make sure you bring a lien release letter from the lien holder on the company’s letterhead and an original signature.

    • Original registrations (first time plate issue).

    • Renewals, including fleets. If someone other than yourself is coming to renew your tags, they must have the registration card, tag number, OR the renewal notice.

    • Transfers (transfer of plates must be from the same owner vehicle to vehicle only).

    • Re-issues (lost, stolen, or damaged tags).

    • Antique License plates. Please fill out Form VSA 10B. See example here. You must have another vehicle that meets VA state requirements.

    • Specialized and personalized plate orders (including the issuance of motorcycle, trailer, permanent trailer, truck, taxicab, and local government use plates).

    • Handicapped parking placards. Download Form MED 10. Customer fills out the front and doctor fills out the back and must sign. See example here.

    • Trip permits. Please bring proof of insurance if you are the owner of the vehicle.

    • Overload permits (original and renewal). For originals, please complete Form VSA 145. See example here.

    • Customer driving records (for personal use, insurance, employment/school/military, attorney use, school bus employment, unrestricted, restoration, and debt set off collections).

    • Compliance Summary (A report of requirements from the DMV of what must be done in order to reinstate or keep your driver’s license in good standing, if there has been any issues pertaining to your insurance, driver’s license, etc. For example insurance, suspensions, SR-22, or FR-44.)

  • Please come in and visit us to make changes to your voter registration.
